Help & FAQ
Common questions about how Ontolize works.
How does Ontolize work?+
Ontolize reveals the connections already in your network. When you add friends and context about how you know them, the system maps your extended network. It then shows you compatible people (friends of friends, shared-circle members) and helps you ontolize plans together — whether that's finding a tennis partner, a cofounder, or someone for deep philosophical conversations.
What does "Ontolize" mean?+
To ontolize is to declare an intention and let your network make it happen. Instead of scrolling through strangers, you say what you want to do, and the system shows you who in your extended network is the best match for that plan.
What's the difference between From Your Friends and From Your Network?+
In the DO tab, From Your Friends activities are from your close friends and high-trust connections — people you actually know. From Your Network activities come from people you're connected to through shared interests, circles, or mutual friends but may not have met yet. Both types show your trust path to the author.
Why should I add context to connections?+
Context (how you know someone, what you share) powers the compatibility engine. When you note that you and Jake both ran track at UCLA, the system can surface Jake's friend who also runs — and show the trust path. Richer context means better recommendations.
Is my data private?+
Yes. You control visibility at every level. Private signals (books, ideas, interests you log) are used only for matching and never shown unless you explicitly choose to share them. Close friend designations are completely private. Location is approximate until you commit to an activity. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I delete my account?+
Go to the YOU tab → Settings → scroll to "Delete Account." This permanently removes all your data including posts, messages, connections, and signals. You can also export your data before deleting.
How do trust badges work?+
Trust badges (Low / Medium / High) are computed from your behavior: showing up to events, positive feedback from others, account age, network strength, and absence of safety reports. They help the community gauge reliability.
What are Circles?+
Circles are local interest groups (Running ATX, Book Club Austin, etc.). When you join a circle, you can see activities posted to that circle and discover other members. Circles add another layer of trust context.
How does location work?+
Ontolize is city-based (currently Austin). Before you join an activity, you see approximate distance ("2.3 mi away"). The exact address is revealed only after you express interest or commit to going — protecting both you and the host.
